"Both abundance and lack of abundance exist simultaneously in our lives as parallel realities. It is our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend...when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present- love, health, family, friends, work, joys of nature, and personal pursuits that bring us happiness- the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth."

Halle's Room

We have been refinishing some of our furniture for the last month or two. The projects still aren't done, but I thought I would at least show you Halle's room that has been a work in progress since we moved here.

We bought this kitchen for Halle almost two years ago and Neal's dad added the top shelf and space for the microwave for me. So now I am finally getting around to painting it and when it was finished, Halle said "I always wanted it white!" like it was her greatest dream being realized.

Before picture - yes, that's Halle in the sink. It was a little tricky getting her out.
After picture -
We made it so kids could play with it from both sides when it's pulled away from the wall. She loves it when I come in to order a meal from her.

This is the other half of her bedroom. Neal's mom made her the super cute quilt and I painted some flowers on the wall. There will be a white dresser next to her bed as soon as I can find time to finish it.

And this doesn't have anything to do with her bedroom, but I took the picture at the same time. We went to see our old high school play football against their big rival. We figured it might be a good game since our team was (at the time) undefeated. We all bundled up in our big coats because it was snowing only to see them lay down and die right before us. It was terrible.

But thanks to daddy who has really long arms. He caught Halle her very own football which made her night. Throughout the game, she would hear over the speaker about taking a time out, and later hear people next to us yelling out in anguish as they were messing up a play. She would then turn to me and tell me they must need to go in time out again. Anyway, this is her prized football.

Look Mom!

So we are still around, just super busy these days. I'm not exactly sure what happened to the month of September.

Anyway, Halle has been up to all sorts of creative things these days so this post is dedicated to her and the wonderful imagination she was born with.

This was her first entry in her "journal." Every night when we check on her before we go to bed, we pull out piles of books or toys from under her covers and often from under her. One night I pulled out this magnadoodle and discovered at a brief glance that it actually looked like something. So I saved it and asked her about it the next morning. She said she was writing in her journal and that she made a picture of her family. You may not be able to tell from the picture, but to us it was amazing. The more incredible part of the story is that she was doing it by the light of a night light.

This train is a Melissa and Doug train that comes apart and goes back together like a puzzle. She plays with it quite a bit but always needs help when its time to put it away. So I was doing dishes one night and she squealed in surprise. She had just amazed herself that she did it right all by herself.
She also discovered a way to make a "tent" for herself by putting a blanket over her umbrella (in case you can't tell from the picture.) We discovered her having conversations with a doll under there.
