"Both abundance and lack of abundance exist simultaneously in our lives as parallel realities. It is our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend...when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present- love, health, family, friends, work, joys of nature, and personal pursuits that bring us happiness- the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth."

February in a Flash

All the stars aligned tonight in the kiddie kingdom and they were mercifully in their beds and asleep before 9:00. Homework got finished, dishes are done, and I find myself with some precious spare minutes. I know, I know. There some other things I should be doing, but posting on my blog took priority.

In a word - it's March. It doesn't feel like March because Idaho doesn't disappoint when it comes to winter weather. So here's what we were up to in February since it literally flashed before my eyes.

Sometimes, Halle has a hard time waiting for Dillon to finish his homework before they can play, so Neal will keep her busy with exercises until he's done. She loves the challenges and keeps begging for more.

I had to have her keep doing jumping jacks so I could get a picture that wasn't blurry. She finally said, "Here Mom" and gave me this pose.

Once Dillon gets finished, he likes to join in the challenge. Here are his awesome and well-rehearsed push ups. Look at that form.

Did I mention the winter weather? We are not even close to being done, despite the deceiving sunshine. This major storm fortunately came on a Friday night, so the kids bundled up and headed out to play.

Dillon wanted to help Neal with the shoveling.
Some neighbor boys came to "help" as well. One was clearly more helpful than the others, but they are all good kids that Neal teaches on Sundays.
This help of course came with a bribe of sorts. They wanted Neal to race his car for them - a guy thing I guess. It certainly wouldn't get me to do the shoveling. Here's our annual "mailbox" picture.

Halle had a hoe-down day at preschool that she had been looking forward to all week. Nobody plays cowgirl better than Halle does. Stripes - as the horse is called - even got to go with her for the day. The only thing she's really missing is real boots, but the ones she had served their purpose.

And there you have it. February in a nutshell. The only thing missing is Valentines day. We took the kids out to dinner to celebrate, but apparently we are the only ones who celebrate love on Valentines day as a family. They were the only kids in the restaurant.
